Skating for Cover were formed in 1981 from the band Cross Wires which was focused around Blisworth in Northamptonshire

Jamie Wood - Synths Keyboards and Drumatix
Rob Brown - Drums & Percussion
Gary - Lead Guitar
The band existed in two eras during recording periods, that being the first series of recordings from 1983 through to the second in 1986
All songs were written and produced by Skating for Cover and recorded in the Sound Advice Mobile and secondly at Malcolm Rivet-Carnac's studio in Little Brington Northamptonshire

Initially a 3 piece band revolving around a drum machine sound but later incorporating augmented acoustic drums and effects then later primarily using Simmons drums
Early recordings featured Roland Drumatix, Hohner Strings and Yamaha CS30 keyboards which later were dropped for the addition of a Yamaha DX7 and Simmons SDS9
The band featured regularly at Northampton Musician's Collective gigs and played independent of these as well
Playing in and around Northampton and featuring on the NMC's only album release - an Answer Within - also featured on NMC's Cassette 'White on Black' which is rare to find
The band practiced at The Royal Oak in Blisworth Northants and at Lola's parents house in Flore Northants
Iconic gigs were at The White Elephant pub in Northampton and various nites at The Black Lion Northampton
