Simply put, SKIN YOU ALIVE plays Degenerate Death. This is the moniker they’ve given to their uncompromising blend of Brutal Death Metal, Slam and Goregrind.
The band formed in Charlotte, NC in the Summer of 2023 with the intentions of spewing bile and drawing blood. After spending the next year and a half gigging and honing their sound, the band recorded “Degenerate Death” in November 2024. They crafted a batch of songs that hearkens back to an exciting time when Death Metal was pushing the boundaries of extremity and brutality, but hadn’t yet become complacent, formulaic or overly concerned with technical prowess. However, Skin You Alive is still deadly proficient and precise in its approach to ignorance and bludgeoning heft…a calculated and well executed onslaught.
The band’s blatant disregard for current trends and refusal to fall into the trappings of any flavor of the weak, hot new sound helps put them in a league of their own. This led the band to align itself with Corpse Gristle Records; the very same label that was at the forefront of ushering in a new breed of brutal Death Metal and Slam in the 90’s. With both entities sharing a mutual vision and thirst for blood, the steamroller has been set into motion. You can either get with it or get the fuck out of the way.
