Boston’s Sleeping Bela is a singer, songwriter and producer known for her hypnotic and almost psychic sound. Birthed from deep adoration to evoke emotion, the artist uses her creativity as dedication to the magnitude of the human experience through poignant melodies, ethereal pads and vocals that echo through space. The multifaceted artist has been musically driven since the earliest moments that she can remember, recalling her mother as her earliest influence and an “introduction to how powerful the voice can be through song.”
She released her first songs on Soundcloud, gaining attention from YouTube influencer, Cartia Mallan, who soon integrated Sleeping Bela’s music into her own YouTube content. She soon signed with Blue Space Records and later released her first project titled ‘Peach’. The EP was soon recognized by Yesjulz and some fellow Boston Artists. Graduation Music describes it best as “alluring in both a sonic sense as well as an emotional sense”.
From performing around the Boston area, receiving appraisal and admiration from a crowd that would frequently submit to tears, she recognized her ability to channel a feeling in a public space. With a penchant for intimate spaces, Sleeping Bela began performing at venues such as Lily Pad, Warehouse XI, and Dorchester Art Project.
With the release of her music video for Tidal, she encountered a love for the visual aspect of creation. Victoria Wasylak of Vanyaland characterizes it as “crisp and pristine as fresh linen.”
