Shortly after forming in a Sydney share house in 2014, Sleepy released their self-titled debut EP with singles ‘The Ride Up’ and ‘Edelweiss’ being premiered on Consequence of Sound to widespread praise. The EP also caught the attention of THISTIME Records in Japan, leading to an international release, along with a collection of early demos and 7” recordings.
Sleepy’s melodic brand of indie guitar pop saw them included on a tribute album for local heroes Smudge, joining slacker pop idols <a href="spotify:artist:4Aq4ePZT5OKPz94Fd1stey" data-name="Evan Dando">Evan Dando</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:73ITRDqlSE4huQlrKuqrBU" data-name="Lou Barlow">Lou Barlow</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4OOlG5eBXSkSAAEeKjJb5Y" data-name="Courtney Barnett">Courtney Barnett</a>
After the release of two EPs, a 7” and a number of singles, 2019 saw the band work with producer/ engineer Tim Carr (Mere Women, Julia Stone, Totally Unicorn) to craft their long-awaited debut album with the first single 'Apologise' currently blasting its way through speakers everywhere.
