With an indie-rock heart and limbs that reach the edges of alt country, punk rock, and classic harmonic pop, Kilns belongs in the spaces between genres and musical currents.
Brimming with their signature melodic hooks and thoughtful instrumentation, Kilns’ new single "Shooting Star" is the Victorian outfit’s first offering since 2019’s LP "You Can Bet Your House On Me."

"Shooting Star" places you in a world sparked by childhood memories of wild and windy nights spent in an old Bass Coast beach house. It’s all creaky floorboards, creamy soda, and Crowded House on the stereo. The song finds tension in surrendering to the cold comfort of nostalgia, while keeping keenly aware of the mental pitfalls of such longing and rumination. It was recorded in the improvised, on-the-fly spirit of 2020, with each member’s parts and ideas flying across Victoria between their laptops.

Off the back of their debut LP, Kilns have already received national airplay on Triple J’s Home & Hosed, Good Nights with Bridget Hustwaite, and 2019 with Richard Kingsmill. In their relatively short career to date, they’ve shared the stage with some of Australia’s finest indie acts, including San Cisco, Ruby Gill, British India, PLANET, Quivers, Rat!Hammock and Merpire, and have been added to several highly coveted Spotify editorial playlists.

Through a lens of resilience and hopeful optimism, "Shooting Star" continues Kilns’ musical odyssey of documenting and dissecting the worlds and brains where they live.
