SMOGUS was founded in the late 90's by six friends in The Netherlands. In the early 00's, SMOGUS started to conquer all the major Dutch clubs, soon establishing themselves as one of the most popular Dutch live-acts. Besides performing relentlessly – as headliner, as support act (Ill Nino, Disturbed, Static X) and at festivals (Ozzfest, Lowlands) - SMOGUS was seen as the promise, a Dutch answer to the nu-metal scene from the USA.
In 2002, the band signed a deal with BMG and released a 6-track EP and performed at the Ozzfest and Lowlands festivals. The band developed a sound of their own: Xplocore. A fusion of explosive nu-metal, hiphop and funk, combined with a large dose of energy and humor. Songs with heavy guitars, groovy rhythms, cool rhymes and heroic choruses that have their roots in bands like Anthrax, Faith No More and Cypress Hill. On May 15, 2004 a full length album (No Matter What The Outcome) was released in the Melkweg, Amsterdam. A DVD named Live & Unplugged was released in 2005. It turned out to be the last recorded achievement. In 2006 the band decided to split up.
17 years later ... Specially for the John Woodstock festival, a charity event, the band came together again for a "one off" fundraiser show. This show was received so well by the audience and the band itself that it sparked new energy. SMOGUS performed old and new unreleased songs. SMOGUS got some unfinished business, so stay tuned for the next chapter. More info https://linktr.ee/smogus
