Snow Ghosts

Snow Ghosts blend folk vocals and songwriting sensibilities with electronica to dramatic and haunting effect. Formed by Ross Tones and Hannah Cartwright and named after the pair's alter egos <a href="spotify:artist:0Qur5LqqAVVunjY2PnjhUp">Throwing Snow</a> and Augustus Ghost, the duo were first brought together after singer/songwriter Cartwright moved to the U.K. in 2008. With Tones active in the British music scene with his own <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Left+Blank%22">Left Blank</a> label -- which signed <a href="spotify:artist:3CVP7vT9JUFGLj8MgiVKjY">Vessel</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5wL9DfXs38Uuqe2lIyHi26">Young Echo</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:7aYP3zaSciq3o6g9eAXpmN">WIFE</a> -- and with his work as <a href="spotify:artist:0Qur5LqqAVVunjY2PnjhUp">Throwing Snow</a> taking precedence, the duo released their first collaboration together as Snow Ghosts in 2011. The Lost at Sea EP melded Tones' industrial-infused electronica with Cartwright's classic English folk-style vocals. While continuing with their own solo projects, and with Tones supporting <a href="spotify:artist:0cmWgDlu9CwTgxPhf403hb">Bonobo</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7tA9Eeeb68kkiG9Nrvuzmi">Atoms for Peace</a> on tour as <a href="spotify:artist:0Qur5LqqAVVunjY2PnjhUp">Throwing Snow</a>, the pair slowly put together what would become their debut album. Signing to London club Fabric's <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Houndstooth%22">Houndstooth</a> label in 2013, Snow Ghosts released A Small Murmuration in the summer of that year. The debut album successfully blended the duo's mix of dark, brooding electronica and pagan-influenced folk. Expanding into a trio with the addition of multi-instrumentalist Oli Knowles of EXES, their second LP, the nautically themed A Wrecking, appeared in early 2015. Husk, an EP boasting a remix by <a href="spotify:artist:00NwpiTtYKYzE6yEhSbFIk">Prurient</a>, followed in 2016. The group spent the next two years working on their third LP.
