Soheil Peyghambari is an Iranian-born clarinetist, composer, and sound engineer, currently based in Strasbourg, France. Born in 1985, he studied clarinet and composition at the Tehran Conservatory of Music and has been active in the music scene since 2008. Known for blending traditional Iranian music with jazz and experimental sounds, he plays the B♭ clarinet, bass clarinet, and soprano saxophone.
Peyghambari’s musical style focuses on fusing improvisation with cultural elements, creating unique textures and soundscapes. His debut album Assumption (2014) was recognized by Radio France and nominated for Best Fusion Album at Iran’s Fajr International Music Festival. His solo album Dysphoria (2021) expanded his experimental reach, combining Iranian motifs with electronics and free jazz. In 2024, he released Deerand with the progressive-jazz group Quartet Diminished, featuring guest artists Tony Levin and Markus Reuter.
He has collaborated internationally with musicians like Franck Dadure, Stefan Levin, Vasco Trilla, Tony Levin, Beledo, and Kevin Kastning. Peyghambari continues to explore cross-cultural musical dialogue through live performance, composition, and recording. His work reflects a deep curiosity and commitment to innovation within both traditional and contemporary frameworks.
