SOKO7 rose to prominence as the Grammy-winning producer behind Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love” but his love for writing and performing music himself has always lingered since childhood. Soko was born and raised in Zimbabwe, before relocating to the United States in High School. From an early age Soko was interested in music, and after producing hits for the likes of Lil Wayne, Drake and Jay Z, he decided it was time to release his own songs. Using his unique life perspective as the narrative for his music, Soko is blending genres by combining afrobeat with dancehall and hip hop to introduce a fresh new style of music that is an explosive yet authentic cultural exchange. “The difference with me is I have both perspectives; I grew up in Africa and lived the African experience and saw everything from that view. I’ve also been here in the states so I feel like I got best of both worlds in that sense.”
