Sola

Houston native Joel Solar, better known as SOLA, is an electronic music producer who amalgamates experimental ambient sounds and powerful synthesizers with sharp hitting percussions to create emotionally complex electronic tracks.

At the age of 9, Joel picked and studied classical guitar and learned the basis of music theory, but mostly taught himself to play by ear. Years later, he turned to the electric guitar and formed a rock band with his bestfriends as a lead guitarist. During their middle school and parts of their highschool years, they would perform for charity events and compete in local battle of bands shows. Coming freshmen year of college, Joel was introduced to electronic music, which tremendously peaked his interest in producing.

In 2019, SOLA released a remix to Billie Eilish’s “Hostage” song which gained a wide-spread recognition in the EDM community. After receiving a great amount of positive feedback from listeners and other music producers, Joel wanted to begin releasing original tracks that could portray and represent the pure essence and style of SOLA. On April 19, 2020, he released his debut EP Opalescence that illustrated a blend of colorful electro textures, beautiful ambient instruments, adequately layered drum patterns, and an overall immensely gripping sound that signifies the authenticity of SOLA’s music.
