It’s not every day instant camaraderie blossoms out of hanging out with “The Wizard of Woo” (Bernie Worrell) for hours on end, but Eddie Roberts and Wally Ingram are no ordinary people.

In a world where super groups run rampant, it’s easy to dismiss them as a dime a dozen. Sophistakits is a group formed from a long series of connections over a long series of time. The group possess simpatico chemistry, both musically and interpersonally, that surpasses virtuosity and enter realms of transcendental sonic rapport.

“There’s something special that happens when Eric and I play,” Eddie declares, “We start morphing into each other. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it, but we just meld between our worlds and create a new landscape.”

Think of “Private Paradise” as less of a mosaic of individual talent and more of a melting pot of some of the highest echelon of talent on today’s scene. Every element adds what is needed at the time—nothing more and nothing less. Inside a coy chord progression, you hear percussive strumming from Roberts, assured yet unpretentious vocals from McFadden, subtly flashy organ fills from Spies, all filled out by Miles Tackett, Wally Ingram, and Jeff Franca holding down the fort in the pocket.
