Soul is the expression of spiritual ideas through Alternative Rock and Metal songs.
Georgios Akhtar — MMA coach, husband, and father — had long felt a calling to add another form of “art” to his fighting arsenal. However, it took the encouragement of his wife for him to take the first step.
He eventually approached his long-time student, Stelios Ioakim (founder of the prog-metal band Joakem), asking him to temporarily switch roles — from student to teacher — in a wholesome exchange: fighting knowledge for singing knowledge.
Through studying classical and modern metal greats such as Metallica, System of a Down, and Tool, Georgios realized that his old poems could naturally evolve into lyrics. Thus began the journey of creating original music.
Georgios and Stelios co-wrote Shadows of Light during their vocal lessons, entrusting production to Elias Chrysochos of Kill Thanatos.
