Soulsavers, a British downtempo electronica duo with rock, gospel, and country influences, was formed by producers/remixers Rich Machin and Ian Glover. After a series of well-received 7" EPs, they released their first album, Tough Guys Don't Dance, in 2003. The pair's second set, It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land, appeared in 2007. The record drew attention from the specialized press, thanks in part to featured vocals by <a href="spotify:artist:1fpXM23IoNckJ7NDAm8YJQ">Mark Lanegan</a>, as well as cameo participation from <a href="spotify:artist:2EEw2tt8AJcH9qXUeB96Oc">Will Oldham</a>. <a href="spotify:artist:1fpXM23IoNckJ7NDAm8YJQ">Lanegan</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2EEw2tt8AJcH9qXUeB96Oc">Oldham</a> returned for Soulsavers' 2009 release Broken, which also featured vocals from Jason Pierce, <a href="spotify:artist:34Ai24gPz5YJ8NbksiNFef">Mike Patton</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:53zHmd1TV9gYuZW6iiI4gE">Gibby Haynes</a>. Three years later, <a href="spotify:artist:762310PdDnwsDxAQxzQkfX">Depeche Mode</a>'s vocalist <a href="spotify:artist:7hKXTmrq3ZppBx881yBbOr">Dave Gahan</a> would collaborate with the group on The Light the Dead See. In late 2015, the duo released a second collaboration with <a href="spotify:artist:7hKXTmrq3ZppBx881yBbOr">Gahan</a>, Angels & Ghosts, and Kubrick, their instrumental homage to the emotions, atmospherics, and characters from the films of the titular iconic director. Soon after, Soulsavers went on hiatus. They returned in 2021 with <a href="spotify:artist:7hKXTmrq3ZppBx881yBbOr">Dave Gahan</a> for a third collaboration, the covers set Imposter, which featured <a href="spotify:artist:7hKXTmrq3ZppBx881yBbOr">Gahan</a>'s takes on songs by acts such as <a href="spotify:artist:6v8FB84lnmJs434UJf2Mrm">Neil Young</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6G7OerKc3eBO9sVkRNopFC">Cat Power</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:12VaqyEhgwDRuFfEqbnrpz">PJ Harvey</a>. ~ Mariano Prunes & Neil Z.
