Sound of Ruby

Formed in 1996, Sound of Ruby is A Saudi Arabian Dammam-based post punk and alternative rock band comprised of lead singer and rhythm guitar player, Mohammed Al-Hajjaj, as the founding member and driving force behind the band’s songwriting. Kamal Khalil later joined as the band’s producer and sound engineer taking on bass guitar duties and then Nader Al Fassam completed the core lineup wielding his lead guitar solos. The band changed up drummers over the years with Talal Al Shawwaf playing the kit for them in most of SOR’s lifespan. Talal currently gave his role as drummer to his younger brother, Faris Al Shawwaf, who joined the band in 2022.

Sound of Ruby showcases a multifaceted repertoire spanning grunge, indie, punk, arabian folk music and blues. Their most successful tracks are "Abo-Hadria Road", "Kabsah", " Abbas bin fernas", "Midnight" and "Jane doe". In their most appreciated albums, "Serotonin”, Sound of Ruby's "Pokemon is Punk" is another jewel in their discography that was played on many radio stations in Europe and The United States. Their latest single, "Fannan", was featured in the box office hit Saudi movie, Sattar.

The band is known for their most successful albums "Shoumagh"، "Serotonin" and "Rock Puffs" and their for latest full length album “Betamax”.
