“Music is an integral part of us and our life together – that’s something wonderful to share. It’s about more than just the music, we’re a music family.” ANDY W & SASSY P | SOUND OF SUPERBAD
Sound of SuperBad are music producers living near Bath in the UK & consist of partners Andy Welland & Sarah Perrett (Sassy P). The pair first met in 2013 & discovered they were ‘Soul mates’ on many levels, including a shared history of a love of soul, funk, rare groove, brazilian & house music. They had a dream of sharing that love by creating a ‘music family’ with the world & formed Sound of SuperBad in 2015.
‘I Want ‘Cha’ was the first track to bring Sound of SuperBad into the spotlight, being released during the 2020 pandemic & going viral within the soul community, hitting multiple No.1s, including the UK Soul Chart a few weeks later.
The Sound of SuperBad feel is a deep mix of soulful grooves with funky beats & a nod to the soul & dance music of the past. Their influences are many & varied, you may catch a hint of Roy Ayers in a vibraphone run, orchestral Barry White strings, a Rhodes style synth with echos of Gil Scott-Heron. They have been compared to artists such as Massive Attack & even called the ‘New Bristol Sound’.
Despite the growing success of Sound of SuperBad, Andy & Sassy remain genuinely humbled by it all, preferring to dodge the limelight & instead, let the music take centre stage. For them it’s all about sharing great music with the music lovers of the world.
