Influenced by the likes of Destiny’s Child, Sugababes, and Rihanna, English pop group SoundGirl were formed in 2010 by teenage vocalists Izzy Beardshaw, Olivia Redmond, and Nicole Short. A major break came when the Mercury label became interested and signed them, but a chance meeting proved to be just as significant; while recording material for their first album in Los Angeles, the singers learned that they and Justin Bieber were staying at the same hotel. They sought the platinum teen pop star, met with him and, luckily enough, he liked their music so much that he invited them to be his opening act on a U.K. tour. The dates gave the group a considerable amount of exposure, but they split shortly after they scored a minor hit with "Don't Know Why," which reached number 45 on the U.K. singles chart. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
