Inspired by 90s and early 2000s Hiphop groups, they created “Spirit of Osakana” as a new yet familiar sound in Hiphop. Hugely inspired by producers such as Nujabes, Fat Jon, and many others within Hydeout Productions, they blend contemplative lyrics over hopeful Japanese inspired jazzy electronic beats.
Their first song “Philo” was produced by Ikage, who won Shing02’s “LET IT SPEAK” beat competition.
Shortly after their debut, they joined with French producers Simon Teboul (rap alias“Light Seizer”) and Nezah°, making the group an international powerhouse into the induction of alternative underground Hiphop.
The group’s first Album, “Cast the Spirit,” showcased the group’s intention of creating meaningful music with other artist from Nujabes’ legacy and around the world. The album features Akin Yai from the legendary group CYNE in addition to artwork designed by legendary Fujita Jiro (FJD).
In addition, the group has recently worked with Substantial, Seven Star, and E-Turn in its latest project “Spirit Harbor,” which showcase’s the artwork from the talented Japanese artist Umisida.
Spirit of Osakana is dedicated to showcasing talents across the world, revealing that Hiphop is more than music, it is a universal language that transcends difference, struggle, or boarders.
