It’s not every day a group of teenagers find themselves supporting some of Australia’s biggest live acts, and for good reason. Spit Chewy, emerging fresh out of the oven in 2018 after meeting by chance at a high school party, have barley had a second to cool down between releasing two singles ”Jimmy” & “Grunge Is My Religion”, making festival appearances and embarking on a national tour with Maddy Jane.
Fronted by the unique vocal presence of Annabelle Scobie, Spit Chewy have taken their songs that were conjured in a broken fibro garage across the country and left audiences begging for more. Their combination of indie pop and a chaotic stage dynamic has landed the Wollongong 4-piece support slots with the likes of The Preatures, Last Dinosaurs, British India, Ruby Fields and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, cementing them as one of Australia’s most promising up and comers. With 2019 set to be a landmark year for the band in the lead up to their debut EP, you’ll want to get aboard the Spit Chewy train like it’s about to depart the station.
Ahead of the release of Spit Chewy’s debut EP Home Videos, ‘Afterparty’ is the launch of a new direction for the band. Recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Fletcher Matthews (Dear Seattle, Sweater Curse and Clews), this mastermind collaboration is topped off with a music video made by the band featuring gothic parties and superhero takeovers.
