This time around, Spyderhuff has really settled into the swampy and psychedelic blues-rock groove that the band is known for. The recent EP contains four tracks that are well suited for a nighttime road trip or chilling at a backyard barbecue.
The subject matter weaves in and out life’s issues including growing old and exhausted (Come Take the Bones), social media angst (Drag and Drop), human relationships gone bad and the never-failing healing nature of a loyal dog (Everybody Needs a Dog), and a view of the future through a retro lens (Future).
Spyderhuff players on this EP are Tom Kuhr (vocals, guitar, harmonica, sax, synth), Don Beyer (bass, synth), Joey Gaydos Sr. (guitar), Joey Gaydos Jr. (guitar), Tony Mitchell (congas & bongos), and James Carmichael Dooley (drums).
“A beautiful balance between rock ‘n’ roll and the spiritful blues.”
- Mercedes Thomas, RockEra Magazine
"We’re really very excited to hear blues rock being taken in such a new and unique direction."
- Review, Send Me Your Ears
There are four previous EP’s including ‘GONNA BUILD ME A HOT ROD’, ‘SIN7’, ‘THINK ABOUT ME’, and ‘TIRED WRANGLER’.
If you like The Black Keys, The B-52's, Lou Reed, Dire Straits, Steve Earle, Tom Waits, Primus, ZZ-Top, Nick Cave, and Alabama 3 you might be ready for a hike down the greasy back roads with old life-long friends scattered across the country making music together any way they can.
