Nardcore legends Stäläg 13 return with their first recording in forty years with original singer Ron Baird back on the mic. Holding On, Vol. 1 is a blistering new EP that includes four new songs and re-recordings of three classic tracks.
Stäläg 13 was formed in 1981 by original vocalist Ron Baird. The band are arguably the first West Coast band with Straight Edge themes in their lyrics. Stäläg 13 played live often, gathering a large and loyal following. The band recorded their influential album In Control in 1984 on Upstart Records, which was famously bootlegged by German label Lost & Found. In 2003 Dr Strange re-issued In Control, which saw the band reunite with the classic ‘In Control’ line up for a US West Coast Tour. In 2012 they played a festival & a few shows, and the band wanted to continue. However, with Ron living in Australia he was happy for the band to continue with John Crerar (Missing 23rd) on vocals. This era saw Stäläg 13 tour extensively, as well as record a new LP Fill In The Silence. By 2022, John C wanted to pursue other projects and left the band. Trust Records reached out to the band to re-issue In Control. To announce the Trust deal, the band toured Europe and the US West Coast in 2023. The Holding On line-up includes Ron-Vocals, Blake-Guitar, AK Tapia-Lead Guitar, Danny Altamira-Bass & Jody Kern-Drums. Stäläg 13 continues to tour globally, so keep an eye out for a show near you.
