After establishing himself as a recording artist with <a href="spotify:artist:3nFkdlSjzX9mRTtwJOzDYB">Jay-Z</a> and his Roc-a-Fella empire, Philadelphia rapper <a href="spotify:artist:0tCtGc5vt29zFZp6KXzN50">Beanie Sigel</a> set out to start his own network with the group State Property. The world got it's first taste of the group on the soundtrack to the 2001 film State Property that starred <a href="spotify:artist:0tCtGc5vt29zFZp6KXzN50">Sigel</a> and Roc-a-Fella associates <a href="spotify:artist:3nFkdlSjzX9mRTtwJOzDYB">Jay-Z</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4ZkdpElKTmTEs9F5BuKTOe">Damon Dash</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:4jWzNq3sdzSpqn7BnzvIKn">Memphis Bleek</a>. At the time of the film's release, State Property included the relatively unknown MCs <a href="spotify:artist:6iOy5ajEgmFuNBL75XbGM6">Rell</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2Jwr7hGoSNK3S3QBxh3T0z">Freeway</a>, Oschino, <a href="spotify:artist:4ycipWQBsGaBezWXn9oUCC">Omillio Sparks</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:2sBv30RzdeMVPoBXbzjIo5">Young Gunz</a> Neef and Chris Ries. The soundtrack included a breakout hit in the <a href="spotify:artist:0tCtGc5vt29zFZp6KXzN50">Sigel</a>/<a href="spotify:artist:2Jwr7hGoSNK3S3QBxh3T0z">Freeway</a> collaboration "Roc the Mic" and resulted in a solo record for <a href="spotify:artist:2Jwr7hGoSNK3S3QBxh3T0z">Freeway</a>. After taking time to work on other projects, State Property reconvened in 2003, adding hot mic talent <a href="spotify:artist:3jdZ2CpOnEmspXf9CyVkmK">Peedi Crakk</a> to the lineup for their second effort, State Property Presents the Chain Gang, Vol. 2. ~ Wade Kergan, Rovi
