The Amsterdam soft grunge band Stella comes after a break with a new single titled ‘Satisfied’. Satisfied is an ode to the conflict between comfort and desire in love and takes you to the stabbing gut feeling prior to the moment you know you're going to break someone's heart.
With the single, the band also releases a music video in which you are taken to the beach where a girl finds a dead fish in the surf. She decides to take it with her and the two build an almost human bond. She then takes the fish everywhere, from her work in the cinema to the pub. The fish as a synonym for valuing and making important something that is seen as dirty and worthless - a dead fish. The video, like the previous two, was made by director Ab Al-Tamimi.
Stella will release their first EP 'I love you, fish' this fall, of which ‘Satisfied’ is the first single. An EP with four, slightly too personal songs about doubts, Tinder dates and escaping reality.
The band draws a lot of inspiration from the 90s and is occasionally reminiscent of artists such as No Doubt, Pj Harvey, Slowdive and Smashing Pumpkins. Dynamic, sober and tearing pop songs with a dark edge. The band, consisting of frontwoman Tosca van der Waals, her sister Jasmine van der Waals, Eszl Vooijs and Siera Bos, with band members who previously played in Loupe, Yasmine and Dakota.
