Before he was known as the buddy to the strategizing blue dog on Blue's Clues, singer/songwriter Steve Burns was a punk rock kid. His dad made him a toy guitar as a wee lad and from there, Burns found himself tinkering around with music while mastering his acting skills in the local theater. In 1995, he landed an audition for a children's show on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. Six years and several music collections later, Burns was looking for a change. He went to college and began writing songs. A chance meeting with producer Dave Fridmann (Mogwai, Luna) led to a joint collaboration with Flaming Lips drummer Steve Drozd in 2002. The trio worked on Burns' quirky indie rock sound and created Songs for Dustmites, which appeared on PIAS America in summer 2003. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
