Introduced to jazz by his cousin, the famous Jacques Pelzer, Steve Houben’s career has spanned 5 decades and seen him tour and record with the likes of Bill Frisell, Chet Baker, Mike Stern, Gerry Mulligan, Clark Terry, Ed Thigpen, Toots Thielemans.

The renowned Belgian saxophonist and flutist has achieved near-legend status in his home country, where he’s successful balanced a career as an educator and performer. On returning from Berklee in the early 80’s, he founded one of Europe’s first jazz programmes at the Liege Conservatoire and, amongst other awards, was given the prestigious Django d’or in 2000.

As his teaching career draws to a close, he prepares again to renew his presence on some of the biggest stages in Europe.
