Today living in Paris, David Linx is a composer, lyricist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, born on March 22, 1965, in Brussels. In 2025, he turns 60, celebrating over four decades in music, particularly jazz, where he is recognized as one of Europe’s most distinctive voices.

Influenced from an early age by major jazz figures like American drummer Kenny Clarke, whom he met through his godfather Nathan Davis, Linx launched an international career collaborating with renowned musicians such as Diederik Wissels, Paolo Fresu, Maria João, and Clark Terry.

Linx’s passion for poetry led to his 1986 album "A Lover’s Question" with writer James Baldwin. A prolific artist, he has released over 30 albums, including "Up Close," "Follow the Songlines," and "Be My Guest." In 2019, he won a Victoire du Jazz for "Skin in the Game."

Honored with the Octave d’Honneur Award (Belgium) and the Edison Award, Linx has also received the Prix Charles Cros, Académie du Jazz Award, and Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in France. Frequently invited to perform and teach worldwide, he shares his expertise with young musicians. From grand European stages to intimate Parisian jazz clubs, he remains a passionate performer.

As he celebrates his 60th birthday, David Linx continues to blend sensitivity with strength in his music.
The album “Real Men Cry” honors his ongoing career.
