Los Angeles songwriter-performer Steven Neal Wagner grabs your ear...your heart...your imagination...with vivid stories set to a distinctly American beat.
A veteran of the Los Angeles coffeehouse-listening room scene, Steve’s been been winning over listeners since the mid-’90s by making them laugh or shed a few tears. Genuine and disarming, he sings to them THEIR stories.
Coming from a rock-and-roll band background, he switched to solo acoustic performer and struggled for a few years to develop into a "real" songwriter. He knew he'd finally hit on something special when audiences began to sing along with his tune “Lost in Texas” by the second chorus.
The recognition of his ability to move people continued with "One of the Two," a devastatingly sad love song which routinely caused female audience members' mascara to run, along with recriminations as to what a bastard he was to have written such a song.
And the number of people who insist that his song "Driveways" is about them continues to grow every time he plays it.
Steve continues to write the good write, finding interesting stories to tell, such as his most recent (2020) singles, “Kevin & Lisa '98,” “When I Still Had You,” and “Old Timer.”
