Sugar House is a Tokyo-based rock band formed in 2019. Blending elements of post-punk,
alternative rock, and indie rock, they craft a refined sound that transcends genre boundaries.
In May 2020, they released their first music video “Control” on YouTube, followed by their first
studio-recorded double single Normal04 / Dry in April 2021, produced by Kohei Kamoto (DYGL) and recorded & mixed by Yujiro Yonetu. Their first EP Surface was released in November 2021, featuring four tracks that laid the foundation of their current sound. In August 2022, they released the single So Bad, incorporating synthesizers and autotune — a bold step into a new sonic direction. The track was added to numerous playlists both in Japan and overseas.
On January 17, 2024, Sugar House released their long-awaited self-titled debut album Sugar House, their first in nine months. The album seamlessly merges their earlier dark and solid post-punk sound with the synth-driven textures that define their recent work. Among its standout tracks,“I WANT IT” — a quintessential post-punk anthem — has garnered over 500,000 views on YouTube. The album was recorded and mixed by Ayumu Musha, mastered by Robin Schmidt (24-96 Mastering), with guitar tech and arrangement by Yosuke Shimonaka (DYGL) and synth arrangement by Hiroto Taniguchi.
With support members joining their live setup, Sugar House continues to expand their presence both in Japan and abroad.
