Sugar House is Tokyo-based indie rock band.
Sugar House formed in 2019 by Ren Kobayashi (Gt,Vo), Hibiki Uchida (Gt), Yusuke Aoki (Ba), and Ryosuke Makiyama (Dr.). The band performed their first live show at Rhyming Slang's "Don't Count Down" event in December 2019, and released their first music video "Control" on YouTube on May 13, 2020.
On April 7, 2021, they released their first studio-recorded double-sided single, "Normal04/Dry" with sound production by Kohei Kamoto of DYGL and REC & MIX by Yujiro Yonezu. On November 10, 2021, they released their first EP "Surface". It contains a wide range of songs including "Blind" a tight post-punk song, "Disappears" which advocates post-punk x shoogaze, and "Part of life," which presents a new sound with the idea of the essence of indie pop that has never been included in their music before. In August 2022, they released a new song, "So Bad," which is a new style of theirs using synths and auto-tune. Since its release, the song has been added to many playlists both in Japan and abroad, and live offers have increased rapidly. Hibiki Uchida (Gt) left the band with the release of "Just Wanna Live It Up" in April 2023, and the band has been performing live actively in Tokyo and other parts of Japan. The band is now active with nimo from VOLZOI as a supporting member.
