Sugarpie and the Candymen play their unique blend of gypsy jazz, early rock'n'roll, 40's swing and Beatle-esque pop, in a mixture that could be called "progressive swing".
Along with their songwriting, their trademark is reworking well-known rock and pop classics in a retro-style reminiscent of New Orleans, Django Reinhardt and the big band era. Revered hits like Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" or Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" get transfigured in a completely new and original way.
Born in 2008, the band has released six albums and has been touring Europe in the major jazz festivals like Umbria Jazz, JazzAscona or Montreux.
