Suzie Stapleton is an Australian-born UK-based alternative rock artist. She is known for electric live performances and poetry strewn, guitar-driven noir soundscapes that cross into gothic-blues and alt-folk.
Stapleton recently appeared on <a href="spotify:artist:4BRdxSoghYizTVZ1j9PT62" data-name="The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project">The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project</a>, producing and performing alongside <a href="spotify:artist:7hKXTmrq3ZppBx881yBbOr" data-name="Dave Gahan">Dave Gahan</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:762310PdDnwsDxAQxzQkfX" data-name="Depeche Mode">Depeche Mode</a>) on “Mother of Earth”, arranging several tracks including <a href="spotify:artist:1RM5gp0RFfjpJhCYFPB30p" data-name="Nick Cave">Nick Cave</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:7FxMjqH6DH056sdsstGeVl" data-name="Debbie Harry">Debbie Harry</a>’s “On The Other Side”, and performing a shimmering rendition of “Secret Fires” alongside <a href="spotify:artist:10pS9yDrtvF9eIi96oS0T8" data-name="Duke Garwood">Duke Garwood</a>. The project is a tribute to the influential Gun Club front man and has also featured <a href="spotify:artist:33EUXrFKGjpUSGacqEHhU4" data-name="Iggy Pop">Iggy Pop</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1fpXM23IoNckJ7NDAm8YJQ" data-name="Mark Lanegan">Mark Lanegan</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1J4ACYB6yMqd79q3rjskqs" data-name="Thurston Moore">Thurston Moore</a>, and many others over its four volumes.
Stapleton’s debut album ‘We Are The Plague’ was released 2020 (Negative Prophet Records/Cargo Distribution). It made several Albums Of The Year lists including Louder Than War's Top 20 Albums of 2020 alongside Porridge Radio, Jehnny Beth, Psychedelic Furs, and Fontaines DC. The album received airplay on BBC 6, Double J, Radio Eins and more.
Stapleton self-produced the record which was mixed by Dan Cox (<a href="spotify:artist:1J4ACYB6yMqd79q3rjskqs" data-name="Thurston Moore">Thurston Moore</a>/<a href="spotify:artist:7B2edU3Q7btJoNsoHCNohM" data-name="Laura Marling">Laura Marling</a>/<a href="spotify:artist:0ikiOZC4SDG6OrgHLESydg" data-name="Peter Doherty">Peter Doherty</a>) and recorded with Gavin Jay ( <a href="spotify:artist:1psZkUNKcWd3A9ADUGlRC8" data-name="Jim Jones All Stars">Jim Jones All Stars</a> / <a href="spotify:artist:5guNuWdwogRihUk2X98G9n" data-name="The Jim Jones Revue">The Jim Jones Revue</a> ) on bass, and Jim Macaulay ( <a href="spotify:artist:0RUEHcBiENFEqxgicqS2ig" data-name="The Stranglers">The Stranglers</a> ) on drums.
Stapleton is currently working on her follow up album due out in 2025.
