Swamp Thief are a Welsh two-piece rock band, serving up a heady brew of down-tuned, churning grooves. Driven onwards by hard-hitting drummer Marc Lockwood, a barrage of vocal melodies is belted out by frontman Simon Bevan, over a thick wall of sludgy guitar.
Hailing from the beach dunes and valleys of Swansea, these long-time collaborators were raised around the rich cultural hotbed of the South Wales rock scene. The pair have been jamming and writing together since their teens, a friendship born out of an unquenchable thirst for all things down-tuned and heavy.
After playing in local outfits Molotov Pop and Uberchop, the duo went on to form Swamp Thief in early 2018. Drawing on a vast catalogue of riffs and songs, and influenced by the likes of Black Sabbath, Corrosion of Conformity, Down, Kyuss, and Clutch, they’ve developed a visceral, riff-based sound. After self-producing two tracks in 2018, their first EP, Swamp Thief I, is out in 2020.
