Sarah Rose Colonna, known by the stage name Swan Porter, is an American independent singer/songwriter predominantly recognized for her deep, raw, and moody contralto vocals. Her compositions blend elements of baroque pop, contemporary jazz, and alternative folk with a hauntingly sullen atmosphere. Heavily inspired by songwriters of the 90’s like Fiona Apple and Jeff Buckley, Swan has made it her pursuit to connect with listeners in a simalarly unique and passionate artistic regard.
While Swan writes on both piano and guitar, she especially excels as a primarily self-taught pianist. She prefers the acoustics and percussive nature of this classic instrument which she refers to coyly as the “Mother of all Instruments”.
Swan composes and produces her original music in the sanctity of her home studio nestled deep within the redwood mountains. Her honest poetic lyricism and ethereal melodies tell tragic, yet beautiful stories of her personal life and intimate introspections.
Swan’s debut single “Death Bed Visions” was written when she was just 20 years old, and started its production process during the height of the pandemic in 2020. The song sat for 4 years before being brought back to life in 2024, where Swan decided to finish its production and release it under this new solo project.
Swan would like to acknowledge that this project is operating on the ancestral lands of the unceded territories of the Awaswas speaking Uypi Tribe.
