Sweetlemondae was born in South Africa and moved to Ireland when she was seven years old. Her musical career began in her teenage years, with her first releases on Soundcloud and YouTube at the age of 15. She has been on a rapid rise after her debut Diffusion Lab track "Never Gonna Be" peaked at #37 on the Irish Airplay Chart in 2022.
The Galway-based rapper draws inspiration from artists such as Coi Leray, Little Simz, 070 Shake, and IAMDBB, as demonstrated by her MC sound and approach.
So far, 2023 has been an important year for the rapper. She began the year on RTE 2FM's Rising List, Hot Press' Hot For 2023 list, and as one of Golden Plec's 'Plec Picks for 2023'.
In July, she released "Turn The World," an uplifting and modern pop anthem dedicated to and inspired by the Republic of Ireland Women's National Football Team, which was selected as the official feature track for RTE's coverage of the FIFA Women's World Cup™.
Sweetlemondae divides her time between her job, the studio, and school. She will take her FE-1 exams later this month, having recently finished a law degree. She enjoys being kept busy since it "always leads to good music in the end."
So far, 2023 has been the turning point for Sweetlemondae. She's been identified as an artist to watch by numerous Irish media publications and has gained international notice from the BBC. She's been handpicked to perform at Ireland Music Week and has gotten herself on festival bills.
