Cychwynnodd Ifan Davies, Ifan Ywain, Gruff Jones, Gerwyn Murray a Lewis Williams eu taith gerddorol yn 2011 - taith a’u dyrchafodd i fod yn un o fandiau pwysicaf yr iaith Gymraeg.
Ar ôl creu cynnwrf gyda’u EP cyntaf ‘Du a Gwyn’, gwnaeth y band ddim wir ffrwydro nes rhyddhau eu halbym hunan-deitledig, yn curo Albym y Flwyddyn, cael eu henwebu am ‘The Welsh Music Prize’, cynrychioli Radio 1 yng ngŵyl Eurosonic yn yr Iseldiroedd, yn ogystal â pherfformio sesiwn yn stiwdio chwedlonol Maida Vale.
Gyda melodiau disglair a chywrain a chytganau sy’n ddigon da i ddawnsio iddyn nhw drwy’r clo, mae Sŵnami ar fin cychwyn eu taith i’r bennod nesaf, gyda albym rhif dau ar y gorwel.
Hailing from North Wales, Ifan Davies (singer/guitarist), Ifan Ywain (guitar), Gruff Jones (synthesizers), Gerwyn Murray (bass), and Lewis Williams (drums) began the journey back in 2011 that was to offer them sizable opportunity and acclaim.
After building a buzz with their EP ‘Du a Gwyn’ (Black and White). It was off the back of their 2015 self-titled debut that the Sŵnami journey really began, winning Welsh Language Album Of The Year; being nominated for The Welsh Music Prize; representing Radio 1 at Eurosonic festival in the Netherlands, as well as performing a session at the legendary Maida Vale studios.
With their bright shining melodies and hooks good enough to dance around your lockdown bedroom to, Swnami are about to embark on their next chapter, with album number two on the horizon.
