Rising Malaysian independent artist, SYA, has been making waves around the region since her debut as the first female artist signed to Def Jam South East Asia.
Going back to 2019, her first viral freestyle to KIKA performed by rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine on Twitter and Instagram catapulted her fame, catching the attention of Malaysia’s Hip Hop icons SonaOne and Joe Flizzow. Not long after, she was signed under Def Jam SEA as of early 2020.
Marking her debut, she dropped her first single, ‘PrettyGirlBop’ by the end of 2020, which garnered over 200k views since its debut on YouTube and over 300k streams on Spotify, followed by ‘Madame’, that shared equal success.
Now, an independent artist, SYA continuous her trailblazing streak. From being featured in Forbes (2022) to having ‘Candy Mind’ featured on Sims 4 (2024), her music continues to inspire and reach listeners across all borders.
