During the summer between sixth and seventh grade, Milwaukee-based hip hop artist, Ben Reddi aks Sydnee B, recorded 80 self-written songs using the record setting of his mom’s answering machine. It is this relentless tenacity, persistence and passion for music that has driven him forward since the beginning. He continued to write and record music throughout middle school and into high school before enrolling in college as a marketing student with the hope that any degree would simply be a plan B to music. So when he was offered a record deal in the Virgin Islands during his sophomore year, he waited ten minutes before dropping out. Sydnee arrived in the Virgin Islands with no friends, no family and $200.00 to his name. With a beautiful studio, seasoned producers and the promise of fame, Ben Reddi began recording tracks for his first album and experiencing what success in the music industry could look like. Six months later, he was dropped from label without warning. This dark time became the fuel to create more music. His songwriting became less about impressing his friends and more about expressing his internal dialogue and turning personal conflict into art. Fast forward five years,he is now one of Milwaukee’s most streamed hip hop artists with 30,000 monthly Spotify listeners and 2.5 million overall streams.
