Sykes (Mike Everling) is a producer/vocalist/DJ, based in Rotterdam in The Netherlands.
As a young kid, he grew up listening to artists like Donny Hathaway and India Arie. At the age of 6 his dad introduced him to playing the trumpet on stage and that is where the love for playing music and being on stage started.
As a teenager, Sykes discovered electronic music via artists like James Blake, Bonobo and Rjd2, which inspired him to produce his own electronic music. The music he creates today is a combination of different genres, completed by his own vocals.
The last 2 years Sykes has been sharing the stage with the Dutch producer Beau Zwart, where they play energetic live sets such as their 2019 performance at Lofi during the Amsterdam Dance Event.
In July 2020, Sykes and Beau Zwart dropped their Hold Tight EP and more releases will follow from this Dutch duo. In October 2020, Sykes released the track Take on the Modern Intimacy compilation of DJ Carista’s United Identities label. In 2021, he will release his We and Us EP on the Dutch Fluid Funk label and a single track will appear on a compilation of the Boogie Cafe label.
