Tokyo-based musician Takuro Okada first caught attention in Japan’s indie rock scene in 2012 with his band Mori Wa Ikiteiru, which released two albums through P-Vine Records before disbanding in 2015. Okada struck out on his own with his first solo album Nostalgia (2017) followed by the EP The Beach (2018), which included his take on “By The Pool” by Steve Hiett, who also supplied the iconic photo for the cover. With the acclaimed Morning Sun (2020), Okada explored his singer-songwriter side with a guitar-based approach. The same year he released the album 都市計画 (Urban Planning) (2020), an ambient collaboration with Duenn. His musical palette was broadened considerably with Betsu No Jikan (2022), an expansive ambient jazz set that included contributions from notable artists such as Haruomi Hosono, Carlos Niño, Sam Gendel, Jim O’Rourke, and Nels Cline. Recently, LA-based record label Temporal Drift released The Near End, The Dark Night, The County Line (2025), Takuro's first album to be released outside of Japan. Besides his recorded work, Okada has kept busy as a session guitarist, composer, improvisational musician and producer, working with artists such as Taeko Ohnuki, Eiko Ishibashi, Yuga, and never young beach.
