This is Keez Groenteman's Tapedag. In the early 1990s, American department store Kmart played a different cassette every month with a mix of instrumental hits, b-sides and original muzak. The many hours spent in the tape deck wore out these tapes, and the music was cloaked in a bath of noise, distortion and other imperfections. An employee decided to keep the tapes to eventually digitize them and put them on the internet. Tapedag's debut Plaza Oneindig is directly inspired by the sound and atmosphere of these cassettes: eight instrumental songs that lead you to a pleasant dream of the carefree 1990s.
