Tapioca and the Flea is the indie-electronic brainchild of Samuel Jacob Lopez Jr (now Coquí) , blending vibrant synth-driven melodies with indie-rock charisma and psychedelic flair. Since emerging in 2011, the band has captured audiences with their energetic grooves, dreamy textures, and irresistibly catchy hooks.

In 2013, their debut EP TATF earned acclaim from tastemakers and airplay on influential stations like KCRW, KROQ,and ALT 98.7, marking them as a fresh force in the indie scene. Their adventurous remix of Young the Giant’s "Islands" revealed their bold electronic sensibilities, while the single "Take It Slow," produced by Ethan Kath of Crystal Castles, took their sound into captivating new territory—later remixed by electronic heavyweight Com Truise.

Known for electric live performances, Tapioca and the Flea have lit up stages at SXSW, CMJ Music Marathon, and Echo Park Rising, steadily building a devoted fanbase hooked on their boundary-pushing style.

With an ear always tuned to innovation and eyes firmly set on the dancefloor, Tapioca and the Flea continue to make music you didn’t know you were waiting for—but can’t get out of your head.
