Gold Recording Artist Tara Kemp emerged out of the Northern California Bay Area music scene in 1991, with her cutting-edge blend of Pop and R&B music mixed with Hip-Hop beats and soulful vocals. She etched a place in pop culture history with her debut crossover smash hit single Hold You Tight, which took the Billboard's Hot 100 Chart by storm peaking at #3. The song won over the R&B Chart as well, peaking at #4 and hit #1 on the 12"
Dance Chart. Selling over 800,000 units Tara received her first Gold Record for the song.
Tara’s follow up single “Piece Of My Heart”, also made the Top 10 on the Billboard's Hot 100 chart peaking at #7. Her self-titled debut album peaked at #37 on Billboard’s R&B Album chart. And both singles were in the Billboard Year End Hot 100 Singles 1991, chart, and have appeared on several ‘90’s compilation albums.
Tara also appeared on the Class Act 2 soundtrack with “Anything You Ask”, and on the Beverly Hills 90210 soundtrack with “Action Speaks Louder Than Words”, for which she received her second
Gold Record.
