Tarah is a musical project founded originally in 1998 by award winning composer Juan Carlos Ferrer. Since its conception, the sole purpose of the band has been to create original instrumental music by combining different music genres like Classical, Jazz, Rock, World Music and New Age, among others. To this already interesting fusion, the band adds elements and colors taken from diverse cultures around the world, including their Latin and Afro-Caribbean roots. The result is a multi-cultural experience which reflects their love and respect for diversity and the view that we are all part of one world.
Tarah has produced two albums and is currently in the process of completing its third. The second album titled “Voyage” was selected as one of the Top 20 musical productions in Puerto Rico by the National Foundation for Popular Culture, a well-respected organization that promotes the Puerto Rican culture locally and abroad.
Among the highlights of the band’s career, it’s worth mentioning invitations to serve as opening acts by Mannheim Steamroller’s creator Chip Davis and more recently by world renowned trumpeter Chris Botti. In addition, Tarah has performed in the most prestigious venues in Puerto
Rico which includes the PR Performing Arts Center, the PR Museum of Art, and the PR Institute of Culture.
