"telco" is the NYC based solo project of Pennsylvania native and musician Michael Gilbride. The alternative rock / indie pop project began from the confines of Gilbride's apartment while still working as a trader on Wall Street. That collection of demos eventually evolved into the project's debut EP, "My Name Is Not Kaiser", released on September 4th, 2020. The project's debut single, "Say Hello", was featured on Spotify's "Fresh Finds: Rock" playlist and won Unxigned's "Song of the Year" in 2020.
In January of 2021, telco released their anthemic indie rock single, "Minus Nine", which blends the band's heavy New Jersey influences (Springsteen, Jack Antonoff) with the alt-rock flare of other major influences like the Killers and Coldplay.
In the summer of 2021 telco announced a follow up EP set to be released in October of 2021, and also announced the lead single, "Tenth Street" (released on September 17th, 2021). "Tenth Street" is a stark progression from the intensely lonely lead single of their debut EP, instead leaning into the comfort and gentleness of a good relationship. The full 4-song EP, "Please, Come Home" was released in October 2021, and led to debut show at Arlene's Grocery in NYC. The EP (featuring 3 original tracks, and 1 cover of Bleachers' "Wake Me") marked a signficant step forward in telco's sound.
After leaving NYC and relocating to Nashville in 2022, telco announced his next single: a cover of The 1975's "Paris".
