Tenzin Choegyal is one of the world’s finest musicians with Tibetan lineages. An ARIA-nominated and Grammy-nominated Tibetan/Australian vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, he is celebrated for blending the ancient sounds of the high Himalayas with contemporary global music. Born to nomadic parents and raised in exile in Dharamshala, India, Tenzin carries the spirit of his lineage while exploring new sonic landscapes.
Across a career spanning more than three decades, he has performed globally, including multiple appearances at Carnegie Hall, and has opened public talks by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. He is also the founder of Brisbane’s Festival of Tibet, a vibrant platform for music, dialogue, and cultural exchange.
Tenzin’s acclaimed recordings include Songs from the Bardo (2021) - a Grammy-nominated cinematic interpretation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, created with Laurie Anderson and Jesse Paris Smith; Whispering Sky (2024) - an immersive global collaboration; Snow Flower (2024) - a meditative, genre-defying project with Matt Corby; and Be the Sky (2025) - a landmark release in collaboration with Philip Glass.
A visionary composer and performer, Tenzin Choegyal continues to unite Eastern and Western musical traditions, offering music that uplifts, inspires, and connects audiences across cultures.
