Terje Isungset from Norway is one of Europe’s most accomplished and innovative percussionists. World Wide known as the pioneer and inventor of ice music since 1999 («The Worlds first and only ice musician»-CNN/«First Person»-Financial Times). 14 solo albums released on All Ice Records and founder of Ice Music Festival Norway in 2006.
Isungset is a nature percussionist and by crafting his own instruments from natural elements as arctic birch, granite, slate, drums, wood, bells, mouth harps and rams horn he have created his own world of sounds and music. In the book Percussion profiles Isungset was listed among «25 of the worlds most creative percussionists”.
As a sideman you will find him as a drummer on several jazz and folk related projects and albums.
In the press, his work has often been described as innovative, visual, energetic, meditative and different from any previously known concepts.
Isungset has been commissioned to compose music for orchestras, choir, festivals, dance performances, theatre, film, etc. (45 commissioned works) He has received the Norwegian awards «Jazz musician of the year»,«Composer of the year» and Egil Storbekkens Minnepris..
