Terri Sunflower

I have lived in the mountains of western New Mexico for about 15 years now and it is here that I have grown into who I am as an artist and as a sensitive human. And I believe those two aspects of me...singer/storyteller and sensitive caring human are what comes through in my music. Maybe that is just another way to say folk music though. I just finished recording my first album which was released on June 21, 2019. It is an EP I made with producer Zak Sloan at Sloan Song Studios and I am absolutely thrilled with how it has turned out.
Music has always been the healing balm in my life. I started out playing my parents records from the 50’s and 60’s, dabbled in singing in church and come from a bluegrass family of 4 uncles that played their entire lives. I went into a different direction as a young adult and became a nurse (for 30 years) as I raised a family. But music has always been the thing that lit me up. I started singing with a local group and that is when I knew I had to learn to play the guitar...something I wanted to learn my whole life. Songwriting is my jam though. I have been writing since 2002 and love to tell stories through song that can connect, inspire and convey the feelings of belonging just as I am, right where I am in hopes that others will feel and know their own belonging.
