Often described as 'power pop', The Breakdowns draw their influences mainly from US rock bands such as Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Ramones, Cheap Trick and The New York Dolls whilst retaining a sense of Britishness through playful, cynical lyrics and 'beat pop' sensibility.
