Who are these arrogant assholes?
The Burns. A four-piece rock band from San Sebastian.
Rock?
Garage pop? Power surf punk pop? They wanted to be a punk band, but they haven’t got the balls.
Garage?
They practice in a garage. They record in a garage. Everything is held together with gaffer tape.
Who’s in the band?
Born in Mundaiz in 2015 when Fred (guitar) and Aengus (drums) realised they shared a mystical musical connection. Later joined by Serge (guitar) and Chris (bass). Sometime in early 2017, the lifestyle that The Burns lead became too much for Chris. He overdosed and dropped out of The Burns and into treatment. He is sorely missed. Someone stronger was needed. Eneko stepped in. He runs over mountains barefoot before breakfast.
A singing drummer?
Yes. It’s not unheard of. Look it up.
Who do they sound like?
Someone you like, but new. They sound like they grew up listening to the great rock bands of the late 70s and early 80s. They have been likened to The Buzzcocks, The Ramones, The Undertones, The Strokes.
Can they actually play?
Of course. They’re no kids. They’ve been around the block once or twice. Ask around. They’ve been doing gigs in Donostia and further afield since August 2016. (Dabadaba, Piratak Aste Nagusia, Alboka, Fetes de St Jean de Luz, Tremplin musicale de Bayonne, etc.)
Politics?
Sometimes.
Who is Iosu?
Iosu Garmendia is the Godfather of The Burns. He makes it happen.
