From a melting pot of varied musical backgrounds and disciplines comes The Campbell Boys, a new Scottish traditional band blending deep-rooted trad influences with a contemporary spirit. Formed in 2023 by Adam Campbell (Lucia and The Best Boys, Sahara) and Haydn Park-Patterson (The Ninth Wave, Lucia and The Best Boys), the band began as a duo and cut their teeth on the Glasgow and Edinburgh pub circuit, building their repertoire of traditional tunes before turning their hand to original compositions.
Although both had long careers in alternative and indie music, The Campbell Boys gave them their first real outlet for traditional music. Joined by friends and collaborators Calum Stewart (The Ninth Wave, Health and Beauty) and Adam Marshall, the band solidified into a powerful four-piece after playing together in sessions at The Variety Bar in Glasgow.
Their new EP, In St Columba’s is released autumn 2025. Recorded in the historic St Columba Gaelic Church in Glasgow, the six-track EP was brought to life in the church’s upper hall, once home to ceilidhs and communal gatherings. The space itself shaped the sound; natural reverb fills every track, and an old electric organ discovered in the church features on the closing tune. It is the follow up to their debut EP, In The Scotia, which is a live EP recorded in the pub that Adam and Haydn have played some of their favourite gigs in.
