After signing with Wichita Recordings, The Cribs - along with contemporaries <a href="spotify:artist:0XNa1vTidXlvJ2gHSsRi4A" data-name="Franz Ferdinand">Franz Ferdinand</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4fSPtBgFPZzygkY6MehwQ7" data-name="The Libertines">The Libertines</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:7Ln80lUS6He07XvHI8qqHH" data-name="Arctic Monkeys">Arctic Monkeys</a> - would spearhead a resurgence in British guitar music during the early-mid 2000's (BBC). They have been called "the biggest cult band in the UK" (Q), and one of the '20 Best Indie Rock Bands of All Time' by the Evening Standard.
Arriving in 2004, <a href="spotify:album:0bTPv3NxMIWhoREekojaW8" data-name="The Cribs">The Cribs</a> was recorded in 7 days at Toe-Rag studios. <a href="spotify:album:3PEPrOkqO3kuj9SvlE55DJ" data-name="The New Fellas">The New Fellas</a> arrived one year later in 2005. Produced by <a href="spotify:artist:5Qlt3zQ63Z99mNhuun0JAT" data-name="Edwyn Collins">Edwyn Collins</a> it featured 4 Top 40 singles, including <a href="spotify:track:7uN47sRqsi3oqlbUk2bDM4" data-name="Hey Scenesters!">Hey Scenesters!</a>
After signing to Warners, the band released the seminal <a href="spotify:album:1KMQ9ydx1ttC4E99swJ60T" data-name="Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever">Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever</a> in 2007. It includes the hit <a href="spotify:track:3qel23hQWhHT3qGewBQ0pE" data-name="Men's Needs">Men's Needs</a>, and the <a href="spotify:artist:4tXPSo0qk91VMP3wFxL0Fo" data-name="Lee Ranaldo">Lee Ranaldo</a> featuring <a href="spotify:track:37SXOukD7A0vygSg1BB3tN" data-name="Be Safe">Be Safe</a>.
<a href="spotify:artist:3yY2gUcIsjMr8hjo51PoJ8" data-name="The Smiths">The Smiths</a> guitarist <a href="spotify:artist:2bA2YuQk2ID3PWNXUhQrWS" data-name="Johnny Marr">Johnny Marr</a> joined for 2009's <a href="spotify:album:4GTpH2WwRyTYNgGRecznP7" data-name="Ignore The Ignorant">Ignore The Ignorant</a>. Following Marr's departure in 2011, they released the sprawling and adventurous Dave Fridmann produced <a href="spotify:album:4pM9XLF9xMDunYFDyYmuYt" data-name="In the Belly of the Brazen Bull">In the Belly of the Brazen Bull</a> (2012).
In 2014, it was announced The Cribs had signed to Sony and were working with <a href="spotify:artist:1iTrwmoisuv7HbdY5tTVUt" data-name="Ric Ocasek">Ric Ocasek</a>. The album <a href="spotify:album:2DDeQbswEzAUDvNgdHzatW" data-name="For All My Sisters">For All My Sisters</a> followed in 2015.
The <a href="spotify:artist:52ZFTGbQ9miWMX8JYBvtOO" data-name="Steve Albini">Steve Albini</a> produced <a href="spotify:album:2AWNdjcW5pqLNN4D9fD60Y" data-name="24-7 Rock Star Shit">24-7 Rock Star Shit</a> was surprise-released in 2017.
Following a brief hiatus to reclaim their back catalogue, the band were invited by <a href="spotify:artist:7mRVAzlt1fAAR9Cut6Rq8c" data-name="Dave Grohl">Dave Grohl</a> to make <a href="spotify:album:5GoKGpW3CAPfMvdegiCHAp" data-name="Night Network">Night Network</a> (2020) at his Studio 606.
<a href="spotify:album:5nSzIeVYqFB0laixl71FYq" data-name="Selling A Vibe">Selling A Vibe</a> was released in 2026, and reached #5 in the UK Top 10, their highest to date.
