The Dead Coats are an American rock group. Winners of the esteemed 2022 Best Rock Act at the Austin Music Awards, they trace their roots back to Baltimore, Maryland, where Lauren V Warner and Joshua Jones founded the band in 2013. Relocating to Austin in 2017, under the stewardship of lead singer Lauren V Warner, the band has undergone several transformations while retaining their essence.
Known for their electrifying stage presence and genre-transcending music, The Dead Coats made waves with their debut studio album, "Big Wish," released on March 27th, 2021. Produced by Chris "Frenchie" Smith, known for his work with The Toadies and JET, among others, "Big Wish" received critical acclaim and airplay on major radio stations like KUTX and 101X. The album was celebrated with a sold-out show at Empire Control Room, solidifying the band's growing influence. The Austin Chronicle hailed it as a "bombastic amalgamation of classic rock & roll."
Their momentum continued with a spot at SXSW 2022 and recognition from KUTX, featuring their single "Reach" as the KUTX song of the day and spotlighting them during KUTX Pride Month celebrations. They have shared stages with a diverse lineup of established acts, including EYEHATEGOD, Jackie Venson, Pleasure Venom, Sailor Poon, Ringo Deathstarr, Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol, Die Spitz, Megafauna, Alien Ant Farm, The Dollyrots, TC Superstar, Animals on TV, North by North, The Grundles, The Boleys, & The Pinky Rings.
